Redefining the Boundary Maintenance

Artist Statement

This series utilizes visual imagery to challenge the perception of who belongs within the natural landscapes of the United States. It provides evidence that members of the Black community, who are often made to feel unwelcome in the country’s natural areas, including national and state parks systems, are pushing back on historic and, in this case, nuanced, discrimination and intimidation, to explore, seek and (re-)develop connections with nature.
